Camping wouldn't be camping without a camp fire, so every pitch has it's own fire pit. We supply camp fire kits which include graded logs, kindling and firelighters. You can book a camp fire kit whenever you would like one, it will be made up for you and you can collect it from the wood store when you are ready.
So where does the firewood come from?
Through the winter months we have begun a coppicing, pollarding and thinning programme, as our woodlands have been neglected for at least 30-40 years, and this will help regeneration.
Contrary to popular belief, leaving a wood to it's own devices is not always a good thing, it can lead to a lack of diversity in both flora and fauna, coppicing, pollarding and thinning and is part of good woodland management
Our work through winter generates firewood which we use to supply the logs for your campfires, the cost is £5.00, which includes logs, kindling and firelighters. This income directly pays for the woodland management programme, the primary aim of which is to encourage bio-diversity - something which we do not receive grants for, nor any other funding.
John and Bryn pose in front of the logs they have just brought in from a coppice area.
Camp fires are only allowed in the designated fire pits (every pitch has one), and only using our firewood, so please do not bring your own firewood, or use wood from the woodlands - these are BIG NO-NO's .
All you need to bring are matches
